DIPLOMA THESIS The Bartered Bride and its Use in Music Education at Primary School Petra Prýmková ABSTRACT The diploma thesis deals with the opera The Bartered Bride by Bedřich Smetana and its pedagogical interpretation in music education at primary school. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of didactic interpretation, which relies heavily on the musical analysis of the chosen opera. The analytical section includes a description of the composer's musical language and a brief introduction to his life. The musical analysis presents the origins, performance, libretto, cast and other historical and social aspects of the opera. The musical analysis focuses on those parts of The Bartered Bride that are essential for the use of the musical work and its didactic interpretation in the music education process. The practical part of the thesis provides a didactic interpretation of selected parts of Smetana's work. A group of primary school students serves as a sample. The outcome of the thesis is a set of didactic materials that can be used as an inspirational source for future and current music teachers at the primary school level. Comparison between fine art and musical pieces of composer Luboš Fišer

This diploma thesis deals with comparison of five musical pieces of composer Luboš Fišer with fine arts. The thesis is divided in the two parts. In the first part we analyze general art trends in 1960s. We will make reference to the most important trends and personalities, who composed and painted in that age. We will also compare literature, fine art and music in Czech Republic in 1960s, which were the best years of Fišer's work. The second part of the thesis describes in detail five Fišer's pieces, which were composed in 1960s. These are Ruce - Hands (1961), Patnáct listů podle Dürerovy Apokalypsy - Fifteen Prints After Durer's Apocalypse (1965), Caprichos (1966), Double (1969) and Nářek nad zkázou města Ur - Lament over the Ruined Town of Ur (1970). Analysis of those pieces is based on comparison with inspiration sources (Albrecht Dürer: Apocalypse, Francisco Goya: Caprichos, old Sumer text called Lament over the Ruined Town of Ur) or it is based on comparison of Fišer's composition method with fine art piece (Double) or it is analyzed just from the semantic point of view of the piece (Hands). Goal of this work is to present composition of distinguished Czech composer Luboš Fišer to general public using analysis of his pieces. Giuseppe Sarti's Operatic Arias in Prague Collections

This bachelor thesis deals with the occurence of operatic arias of Italian composer Giuseppe Sarti in Prague. The starting point of this work is research of the archive resources of the basic Prague institutions and consequential creating of the list of all available sources. On this basis three most numerous arias are chosen and they are farther remited to musical and textual analyse. Thanks to this analysis it is possible to get closer to Sarti's way of musical composition, in general then to gain evidences of Italina opera during the Classic period. Moreover this analysis provide an opportunity for better understanding of musical conventions and taste in Bohemia in late 18th century. Oratorio Santa Cecilia by Antonio Draghi

The bachelor thesis deals with the oratorio Santa Cecilia by Antonio Draghi (1634 - 1700). The paper also summarizes the present knowledge about Draghi and his work, deals with the origins of the oratorio in Italy and the adoption and development of its tradition in Vienna during the 17th century. The thesis also focuses on the legend of Saint Cecily as a theme in music and includes the edition of selected arias and one ensemble of this oratorio. Alexander Moyzes: Piano Sonata in E minor, op. 2

The focus of the bachelor thesis is to examine in closer detail the piano composition Piano Sonata in E minor, op. 2 by the Slovakian composer Alexander Moyzes (1906-1984). This is achieved through the compositional-technical analysis of its printed version that was published during the composer's life, in 1947. The aim is not to place the composition primarily within the historical context as a considerable amount of related sources has been collected; a large space of the work is therefore occupied by the analysis of these sources. Through the detailed study of these the thesis attempts to outline the genesis of the above mentioned composition and briefly comment on the development of Moyzes's compositional activities. A Comprehensive Musical Analysis of Bohemian Traditional Songs from the Sources of the Governmental Collection of 1819

Since 2000, a computer database of Bohemian traditional songs and their instrumental melodies has been developed at the ethnomusicology section of the Prague branch of Institute of Ethnology of Czech Academy of Sciences. Up to now, 6,000 songs have been analyzed in detail. The songs have been transcribed into nu¬merical codes and analyzed due to their tonality, melody and rhythm in relation to both their musical form and song lyrics. The presented study presents the results of the analysis of 491 traditional songs from the sources of the governmental collec¬tion of 1819.

Piano Works by Alexander Moyzes (1906-1984) in their Historical Context

The magister thesis is connected with bachelor's thesis, which was concentrated on Piano Sonata in E minor, op. 2 by Slovak composer Alexander Moyzes (1906-1984) and was concerned on it mainly with collected sources. In this thesis we decided to point out its composing work and possible inspiring sources and therefore the focus of this diploma thesis is its introduction into historical context of piano music of the 19th and 20th centuries. Through composite-technical and stylistic analyses of selected piano sonatas and other works, we want to contribute to the closer characterization of Moyzes composer's personality and to complement the literature that Moyzes Sonate has devoted to in minimal terms from composing work and inspiring sources. Selected pieces include: Brahms Sonata f mol, Op. 5 and Variation and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, op. 24 from the point of view of means of piano stylization, Sonata Eroica, op. 24 for piano by Vít zslav Novák because of their mutual interest in working with modality and mutual close relationships (Moyzes's teacher). In addition to these goals, we will also focus on the other piano works of Moyzes by creating a new chronological inventory based on preserved sources.
